Healthcare is changing. More people are living with long-term conditions; there are more medicines and health products to choose from, and people are taking a greater interest in managing their health.
Through these changes, pharmacists and pharmacy teams remain an important part of everyday healthcare. They do more than supply medicines. They help patients understand how to use them safely, answer questions, identify possible medicine-related problems, and know when a patient needs further care.
On 25 September 2026, Pharmaplus joins the global healthcare community in marking World Pharmacists Day under the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) theme, “Empowering Pharmacists for Healthier Futures.” The theme highlights the importance of giving pharmacy professionals the skills, support, and working environment they need to make the most of their training and expertise.
At Pharmaplus, this support extends across our branches and central teams, from dispensing and patient counselling to training, regulatory affairs, pharmacovigilance, research, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and data.
Beyond the Prescription Counter
A pharmacy is about more than dispensing medicines and attaching labels. Pharmacists and pharmaceutical technologists speak with patients every day and can help identify medicine-related concerns before they become bigger problems.
This can include:
Explaining how and when to take an unfamiliar medicine.
Checking for possible medicine interactions before a patient starts treatment.
Helping patients choose suitable over-the-counter products, supplements or skincare products based on their needs and existing medicines.
Recognising possible side effects and advising patients on the next steps.
Identifying symptoms that may need medical attention and referring the patient to a doctor or other healthcare professional.
Empowering pharmacy teams means giving them the tools, training and support they need to provide this care consistently.
Quality and Patient Safety
Getting the right medicine is only part of safe care. Medicines also need to be stored, handled and dispensed correctly.
Our teams follow dispensing and storage procedures designed to protect medicine quality and patient safety. This includes checking prescriptions, following storage requirements and helping patients understand how to use and store their medicines at home.
Evidence Over Trends
People are exposed to health advice from many sources, especially social media. Not all of it is reliable.
Pharmacy teams can help patients make informed choices by using evidence when answering questions about medicines, skincare, supplements and other health products.
This may include checking whether an over-the-counter product is suitable alongside a patient's existing medicines or helping a patient understand the difference between a health claim and reliable information.
Supporting People Living With Long-Term Conditions
Managing conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and asthma often requires ongoing care. While diagnosis and medical treatment remain the responsibility of the patient's healthcare provider, pharmacy teams can support patients between medical visits. They can help patients stay on track with their medicines, answer routine questions about side effects, keep appropriate dispensing records and encourage patients to seek medical review when needed.
Our Commitment to Our Teams
Supporting pharmacists and pharmacy teams should go beyond one day of recognition. At Pharmaplus, we continue to focus on five areas:
Continuous professional learning – keeping our teams updated on medicines, treatment guidance and patient care.
Better working systems – improving dispensing processes so teams can spend more time supporting patients.
Quality and safety – maintaining high standards for medicine quality, storage and dispensing across our network.
Care collaboration – helping patients connect with doctors and other healthcare professionals when they need further care.
A patient-first culture – putting patient privacy, clear communication and respectful care at the centre of every interaction.
A stronger healthcare system is built through everyday actions: taking a few minutes to show a patient how to use an inhaler, checking for possible medicine interactions, answering a parent's questions, or knowing when someone needs to see a doctor.
This World Pharmacists Day, Pharmaplus celebrates our pharmacists, pharmaceutical technologists, and operations teams. Their knowledge, care, and attention help patients use medicines safely and access the support they need every day.
Happy World Pharmacists Day 2026.
